We are a student-run club dedicated to fostering critical thinking, public speaking, and respectful discourse. Our inclusive platform empowers members to sharpen their argumentative skills, explore global perspectives, and build confidence through practice and competition.

Henglin Xu

Co-Founder, President, Instructor
Henglin is a high school senior with extensive experience in both speech and debate. He’s been debating for 5 years, and has placed highly in both national and international level competitions, being a Semifinalist at Harvard WSDC 2026, as well as a CNDF National Semifinalist. He most enjoys the content aspect of debate; his favourite debating subjects are economics, sports, and international politics. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies and following sports, especially hockey and American football.

Joyce Cai

Instructor
Joyce is a seasoned speaker with experience in both speech and debate. She’s competed in and placed at various debate tournaments, including this year’s Edmonton 2025 senior beginner regionals, where she was top team and speaker. She is well versed in most debate formats, but she prefers British Parliamentary (so she doesn’t have to do prep work.) She’s an avid musician and music enjoyer in her free time.

Vivian Sui

Instructor
JVivian is a qualified speaker with over 5 years of class and competition experience. She has many achievements within a variety of different debate tournaments. Her favourite style is Worlds, but she has also competed in CNDF and BP. In her free time, she likes reading, art, and listening to music.
